HELENSVALE SUBURB INFORMATION
Helensvale is a community developed in the 1980s.The suburb borders Coombabah Lake to the east with parkland scattered throughout the suburb. It has grown to be almost a satellite city with all the conveniences needed for most of its residents. The residents’ association fought a long battle with Gold Coast City Council to ensure the Westfield Helensvale shopping complex was built. Now thoroughly entrenched in the suburb, it boasts a multitude of retail outlets that allows shoppers the luxury of never having to leave the suburb to shop. A large proportion of the area’s residents comprise of retirees and families.
Residential
Helensvale has a mix of units and houses and has been an attractive area for first home-buyers.
Shopping
Westfield Helensvale shopping centre has Target, Kmart, Woolworths and Aldi as well as a multitude of specialty stores. The centre is easily accessible by bus and train and has plenty of parking. A five-minute drive away is Harbour Town Shopping Centre, a large complex comprised of factory outlets.
Schools
Primary: Helensvale Primary School, Gaven and Coombabah Primary Schools. Secondary: Helensvale State High School, Pacific Pines and Coombabah High. Private: schools include A.B. Paterson, Coomera Anglican, Saint Stephen’s, Jubilee Christian, Coomera College.
Retirement
The Gardens on Lindfield, a resort-style retirement village, has one and two bedroom homes available.
Medical
There are a number of medical centres in Helensvale including Monterey Keys Medical Centre, 1 Monterey Keys Drive, Helensvale.
Transport
The suburb is well serviced with buses which link the Helensvale Rail Station to Southport and further south. The trains run from Helensvale south to Robina and north to Brisbane Airport.
Recreation
The newly renovated Helensvale Bowls Club has a growing number of patrons. It is popular with the bowlers and offers affordable dining. The area has numerous taverns operating. Three of the Gold Coast’s major theme parks are a five-minute drive.
Golf
Helensvale Golf Club has an 18-hole, 70 par golf course that welcomes visitors both experienced and those new to the sport. The Gold Coast Country Club is an 18-hole championship course located next to the Helensvale train station. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the facilities including a fully licensed bar and bistro.
