Renovating your home can be expensive and daunting, but transforming your space shouldn’t have to break the bank. Here’s a few tricks to create an updated abode on a budget.

Replace carpets

Worn and stained carpets are never a great look, and no matter how many times you get those carpets professionally cleaned, let’s face it - they will never be as good as new carpet. When it comes to replacing your carpet it doesn’t mean you have to spend the big dollars. Shop around for some good deals and consider investing in some quality carpet that is easy to maintain and will last a long time, saving you in the future.

Hang new curtains

Having curtains is not just about aesthetics, but also about functionality as well. With this in mind, you should always choose window coverings to suit your needs best. While curtains and colour trends are changing all the time, switching it up will give your home the ultimate transformation without breaking the bank. You can match your curtains to other décor in your home, or you can go with something a little more bold and daring to give that pop of colour. Plantation shutters, roller blinds and venetians are all good options as well, depending on your budget.

Swap door handles & light fittings.

It may not be obvious but door handles and light fittings do age, and it’s not doing your space any favours. Replacing your current set could work wonders, and your local hardware store has all you need for a small portion of your budget. Think about current trends and styles that will last. You can update all door handles and even go as far as kitchen and bathroom cabinet handles. If you’re reasonably handy, you can even do this yourself, saving the cost of hiring a tradesmen.

Plants

If you call yourself a green thumb you should definitely consider adding some life into your home, and if you’re not, there are plenty of hardy plants out there that will survive the odd forgetful water. Plants add a great aesthetic touch to your space, and even hold great health benefits as well. Local plant nurseries have loads of options, from small succulents to blossoming peace lilies. Decide how much you want to spend on some greenery and ask your plant nursery to help you find the best plant for you.

Switch the splashback

Renovating your kitchen is a huge cost that can swallow a lot of your budget. Instead of replacing the entire kitchen, consider switching up your splashback to create a fresh, modern feel. There are endless splashback options, so do some research into what you would like best. You can head to a tile shop to find a special design of your liking, or you can go with the all-in-one glass splashback, which is easier to fit and still looks great.
